What if this were my last post, ever?

Man, I had a busy weekend...some friends threw a surprise party for me...(It was great- thanks, ladies!)...I'm way behind on the ole' schedule.  So I thought what if I just don't post this week- that would be alright- right?  And then the thoughts came creeping in....what if I was in a horrible accident and never posted again...and my last ever post was my bare naked face covered in huge mountainous zits ? So if you can give me just a couple of days I'll post something....it may be my explanation of how I fumbled the whole "this is where babies come from" fiasco.  It may be this hilarious story that Kayla wrote- and when I say hilarious I mean it- she's a genius.  Or it could be about our not so recent discovery that she has O.D.D. which stands for Oppositional Defiant Disorder, commonly associated with ADHD.  Or it could be about Headless Amy- my newest art doll/self portrait/new friend.  I'm obsessed with her right now.  Probably why I don't ha...

Read this if you are thinking of eating your young.

I should tell you the tooth fairy had to double her payout because she got distracted and forgot her duties.  But this note was found next to the tooth.  How sweet is this kid?  Well, she does stuff like this all the time.  That's how sweet.  And she's my number one fan.  But then I'm hers.  The new music on the blog- first song is called Lullaby by the Dixie Chick (most likely the only country song ever to be found on my blog- I'm a rock and roll kinda girl) but the first time I heard it I fell in love and now I own my very own Country music CD.  Listen to it- you'll tear up, I promise!   Short post I know, I'm very behind must catch up on other duties... 1.  Vertigo- under  control but it reminds me once in awhile its still lurking- like when I turn around real fast.  2.  Art stuff.....working on Big Little lady but must wait to post.  She has hair. 3.  Do you like the new look on the blog?  I have...

This post is not what you think it is.

Is she done? I'm not sure. Her "hair" is glued on and she has features. It was my intention with this sculpture to explore paper mache` in a more natural raw form. With the past works I added paper clay to the garment to smooth it out. This one felt like it was calling for texture. So I painted the "fabric" just as it was- a real thin coat of paper mulch over top the wire mesh that created the shape. I liked it. Do I dare tell you the story of the hair? I drew this lady with wild hair thinking it was a great metaphor for the meaning of the sculpture. Its about realizing you are "The Source". Meaning YOU are the source of the energy that surrounds you. The word kinetic comes to mind but I have yet to look it up and make sure its accurate to this work. But that's not the story of the hair. You know how, in your work, you need just the right thing? And you also know that you probably won't find it? I do this thing where I rack my brain trying to t...

Keepin' the kid out of Juvie

Today one of my very best friends announced she had won a prestigious award. An award highly coveted by many of the people who follow the blog- byebyepie. I have been to this blog. It is addictive. The mind behind this genius- a somewhat zany, kinda scary woman who I took to right away. "She's crazy!" I thought. "I like her!" Well, she was introduced to me by my friend Chinamommy who also has her own blog which is very funny as well. Yes, Chinamommy won the award of "cleverest comment of the week" for her comment she posted to byebyepie's blog regarding the lovely scent of lilacs and her associated memories. Yep. HMMM. Well....Yeah. Nice. Guess what award I should win!?! For my recent adventures as mom ...... yeah, you get it...where am I going with this? Of course my story involves Kayla. Now if you have ever doubted Karma- don't. Kayla is my consequence for that summer I spent sneaking out at night to run the town with my friends. Kayla is my...

Late last Spring

So in the morning, when you have waited twenty minutes while a 6 year decides to finally swallow the medicine that will keep you from murdering her and then you have to convince her that if it is pouring down rain most likely her field day will be held in the gym and that she should not wear her winter jacket with the hood up because, again, field day will be held in the gym , and to get the hell out of the closet because she does not need her winter boots because MOM Is REALLY SURE that field day will be in the GYM- inside the building , and no, we will not have time to cut her bangs so she can see better and MOM is sorry that she put the ponytail on the other side of her head but we can't re-do it, because, we spent twenty minutes making sure she took the pill that keeps MOM from murdering her instead of hiding in her underwear. In the morning when all of this is going on and you have already decided that she will be tardy for school this morning- do not even think, for one minu...
