What's on my mind?

Why, everything of course. I'm a dyslexic thinker. Right now I'm thinking I spelled that wrong but last time I used spell check it froze my computer. Not because my spelling is so bad that the work was too hard but because I have D I A L .....UP........oh, sorry, I fell asleep there for a minute. Seriously, thanks to dial up I get a lot of crafting done. How? Well, I wander off and work while I'm waiting for the page to load. I really have to work on getting cable.

Speaking of 'working on' (cuz that would be a hubby decision, I'm not messing with his 'channels') did anyone see the commercial for desparate housewives where Eva Longoria's husband walks in and she says 'Hi honey, ready for some lunch?" and he says "I just opened the credit card bill" and she quickly replies "Did I say lunch? I meant SEX!" Who ever wrote that line sure put a smile on my this woman's face!

But let's talk about my big find this last week. The world's most beautiful ribbon right in a store here in Grand Rapids!

I spent over 30.00 just on ribbon. Well, of course I had to have two yards of everything and of every color I liked. Eva Longoria can have her Jimmy Chu's, I want this ribbon!

What am I going to do with it..... I don't have a clue. Or I didn't, anyways. I just knew that if I could create an art doll using this as the inspiration than it would be by default, the most beautiful doll in the world. See how I get? Giddy. Shoes don't do that for me. (But I still like them, don't worry, I am somewhat a normal woman.)




Ok, so that's all I have to say about that and yes, I do picture Forrest Gump when I say that. I have to work today. We got slammed with work last week and everything is due....well, it just all needs to get done this week- deadlines!     I get all goosebumpy when I see pretty ribbon....I think every woman I know has resorted to credit card sex...ha ha...

    I know what you mean about that ribbon...I've been trying to figure out a way to felt with it...the result could be amazing - or ridiculous - I guess only some trial and error will tell me now, won't it?

A Little Summer Fun Followed By A Little Summer Anxiety!

  Yep.  Got a  little goin' on... First off-  Anything to keep these two busy!    Very first overnight camp- thought I'd be really anxious.  Turns out- not so much! Paper Mache` vs. Creative Paper Clay vs. Paper Clay Recipe!

For those of you who work in figurative sculpture, or are art doll makers, or just like to putz around in an artsy way this post is for you. If you don't fit into the categories above this post may just be a yawn. Sorry. The following is a comparison of my experiences using three different products. Paper mache`, Creative Paper Clay, and paper clay recipe. This picture is a good example of how I like to mix up my mediums. The round flower is Creative Paper Clay. The 3-petal blossom is made from the paper clay recipe found on line. Both of these flowers adhered quite well with out any glue to the paper mache` background. In my Cloth and Clay group I have a discussion going about a paper clay recipe vs. purchasing the manufactured paper clay. I wanted an alternative to the little bricks and my dependency on whether or not my local hobby stores would have it in stock or not. And, truthfully, at the time with a rather large sculpture in mind I knew I would eat through those

Craft Tutorial Alert!

Well, its the end of the school year.  Time to thank the two ladies that influenced my children in a great direction!  I didn't want to donate to the gift card.  Why?  Because I'm not a joiner?  Because I want to stand out rather than share the spotlight?  Because I want a personalized gift that they can keep and always remember?  Because I want to impress upon them that I can't participate as a classroom volunteer because (loud children scare me) I've been so busy working and being creative?  Because I want to do both gifts for very little money but not look cheap?  Bingo. I saw an ornament made from a puzzle piece in a magazine and it stuck with me.  'I should do something like that' I always think.  Then the idea came to me and unfortunately would not leave me- like ringworm.  I would make a mobile. I found the very largest puzzle I could find at my local store.  Turns out the fewer the pieces- the larger they tend to be.  This 4.00 puzzle had
